ANCESTORS

 

In recent years, there's  been an emphasis on healing our Ancestral family lineages. Hopefully, their healing through your efforts, also meant healing for you!

Now, we turn our attention to the generations to come.  Now, we take our rightful role as Living Ancestors to future generations. As responsible, loving people, we are concerned about the future of our planet, our bloodlines, our cultural and spiritual legacies. 
What do we bequeath to them? What wisdom, talents, gifts, magics and stories do we pass down? What remains to be healed within us, so we don't pass it down epigenetically, environmentally, or culturally?

Just like our Ancestors, our Descendants may or may not be biological. But, they will certainly receive the inheritance of our cultures, beliefs, wisdom, and the choices we make during these Time of Great Peril.


 

 

 

 

 


If you do not have biological children, you may have nieces, nephews, students, or other young people you mentor in some way. Your life impacts others. Your words and actions have far more reach than you might recognize! Even if you believe that your words, thoughts, and deeds don't reach those younger than you, you pass them on to others who pass them on, in turn.  We are all connected to the distant past and future.

Even now, each of us is participating in the birth of a new and future world. Biology is but one part of what we contribute. It is our obligation to consider those who come next--to acknowledge, guide, and offer blessing on their lives. 

The Indigenous People have always remembered to consider, and make prayers and decisions for the Seventh Generation beyond our own. It is past-time we remember, as well.
  


 

When I came into contact with the Descendants, I found hope.

A dozen years ago, when I first took the leap toward the future seeking Descendants five generations down from my own, I expected to find devastation.

Instead, I found hope. I learned that life persists.

My work with The Descendants, since that time, has only deepened. It has shaped my world view, my activism, relationships, and my magic. I have been waiting for the right time to share this work broadly.
There has never been a moment more ripe than this one.

Descendant Work puts us in touch with our own mortality. It can challenge what we believe about time, and what we project into the future. It enables us to view this life as but a chapter located amid a vast and magnificent tale. Connecting with The Descendants ground us deeply in our own stories, including how we have and will shape the future.

  WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Descendants s is a nine week asynchronous experience. Materials include recorded and written teaching-lectures, rituals, guided meditations, and readings. These are delivered via email as pdf, mp3, and links to resources. Work with them at your own pace. They are yours to keep*, and return to whenever you desire.
You can expect to spend up to 2.5 hours weekly listening to, reading, and working with presented materials.  Additionally, rituals, meditations, and writing may require up to 3 hours per week.

We gather live-online, in the Living Ancestors Lounge, at the start, middle, and end of Living Ancestors.**  We gather for discussion and for magic. The container for this work is co-created and nourished during these meetings. Live conversation allows us to share our experiences, ask questions,  and listen to others' insights.  These gatherings allow each of us to learn more than we would working in isolation. Please do your best to attend.

Place your life in the Center, instead of the End of your lineages. You are both Descendant and Ancestor.

Re-imagine time, incarnation, lineage, and your role in familial and cultural contexts.

Connect with the Descendants, who are--even now--reaching back to you, their Ancestor--with healing, offerings, blessing, thanks, and petitions for your help. 

Communicate and exchange energy with the Descendants safely -- without draining your own precious Life Force Energy.

Create a Living Memoir for Them. Write or record your stories, wisdom, jokes, sorrows, memories, recipes, and whatever is meaningful to you.  What blessings, hopes, dreams, good will and wishes do you hold in your heart for them? What fear or guilt do you need to clear? Let your words, art, music, rituals, biography, and love be their primary resource for learning about you, and these Times.

Reach downline to strengthen and bless our descendants through ritual and offerings.

    Feb 6, 13 & 20: You'll receive recorded & written materials, along with instructions, suggested rituals, and writing prompts via email. Visit the virtual Living Ancestors Lounge at your leisure. Or, meet with enrolled peers for discussion, support, and co-writing sessions.

    Feb 27: Join us for our second Live Gathering to discuss materials, questions, and your experience thus far. If you've been writing and want to share, there will be time to do so. If warranted, we'll do visioning, breath, somatic, or other ritual work together.

    March 6, 13 & 20:  You'll receive recorded & written materials, along with instructions, suggested rituals and writing prompts via email. Visit the Living Ancestors Lounge at your leisure. Or, set up times to meet with enrolled peers.

    March 27: Join us for our final Live Gathering to discuss materials, questions, and your experiences in Living Ancestors. If you've been writing, ritualizing, or having epiphanies, you're encouraged to share them! We'll close with a simple ceremony honoring this work, our Ancestors, each other, and our Descendants.
